License to Dig sells one thing: a study course for the two California CSLB exams. This page says exactly what we collect to run it, why we collect it, and what you can make us do with it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
California's Online Privacy Protection Act (Business & Professions Code §22575) requires any commercial site collecting personal information from Californians to post a policy like this. We are also telling you more than it requires.
| Your email address | How you sign in. There are no passwords here — we email you a link. It is also where receipts and expiry notices go. |
| Your name | Optional. If you give it, it appears on your lesson pages as a watermark and is used to address emails. |
| Your study progress | Which lessons you have finished, which flashcards you have marked known, your practice-exam answers and scores, the checklist items you have ticked, and any renewal dates you enter in the Compliance Vault. |
| Purchase record | What you bought, when, how long it runs, and your Stripe customer id. We never see or store your card details. |
| Access log | Each time a course page is opened we record the page, the time, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. This exists to detect one account being shared across many people, and for nothing else. |
Lesson pages carry your name visibly, and your account id invisibly, in characters that survive copy-and-paste. If course material turns up somewhere it should not be, that is how we find out whose copy it was. We are telling you this rather than hiding it.
Four companies, each doing one job, none of them given your data to use for their own purposes:
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. There are no advertising trackers, no analytics scripts and no third-party pixels on this site. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
Two things, both necessary and neither used to follow you:
Do Not Track: we do not track you across other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off. We do not respond to it, because we have nothing to stop doing.
Your account, progress and purchase history stay until you ask us to delete them — deliberately, so that if you come back for another year you pick up where you left off. Access-log entries are kept for 24 months and then removed. Purchase records are kept for seven years because tax law requires it.
Email support@licensetodig.com from the address on your account and we will:
California's CCPA/CPRA obligations apply to businesses above revenue and volume thresholds this one is far below. We are offering the above anyway.
This course is for people applying for a California contractor licence, which requires you to be at least 18. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Everything travels over HTTPS. Course content and account records sit behind database-level row security, so an account with no purchase reads nothing — the restriction is in the database itself, not only in the website code. Payment card data never reaches our systems.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will tell you by email, at the address on your account, as required by California Civil Code §1798.82.
If this policy changes materially we will email account holders and update the date at the top. Old versions are available on request.
